Notice the claws in the center. Chinese art often makes use of complementary colors in balanced designs such as this. Butterflies and fish complement the main peony theme. Peonies are symbols of love and affection. In marriage, they bring the couple together as complements of one another. The idea of twin swallows is obvious.</font></td>
