Most of his vegetables are grown in large fields away from the farmyard. He has several fields, but they are not all in the same place. Land is distributed by the village council. Usually, you keep the same fields from year to year, but adjustments are made when people die or leave the area. The government owns the land. You get to use it and whatever you raise is yours. You do pay taxes on income, but in rural areas this is a minimal amount. In some rural areas the government forgives all taxes to stimulate the rural economy. </font></td>
