- Wang Duo </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">王铎</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> (1592-1652)<br>
- Wang Duo was born in Mengjing, Henan Province. His designated name was Juesi </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">觉斯</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">.<br>
- He was transitional between the Ming and Qing Dynasty, working under both administrations. He spent<br>
- a good part of his professional career copying the works of Wang Xizhi </font><font size="-0">王羲之</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">(330-361 AD), a<br>
- calligrapher of the Eastern Jin. His influence on calligraphy continues to this day. Wang Duo was also a<br>
- poet in his own right as well as a painter. This scroll was completed in 1622 when he was 31.<br>
