That will change in 2008 when the Shanghai World Financial Center 上海环球金融中心 is finished.

- <p><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">For the moment, including the spire, 420.5m is the record to beat. The Jin Mao has 93 floors and 3 basement levels. Begun in 1994 and finished in 1998 it was designed by Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill of Chicago. </font></p>
- <p><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">One of the coolest features of the building is pictured below. The top floors surround a hollow leading down to the lobby of the Shanghai Grand Hyatt. Notice the grand piano? It's on the 53rd floor, taken from the 88th floor. </font>
