- Running script<br>
- Feng Zizhen was born in Xiaoxian, Hunan Province in south-central China. He is also know by his designated name Haisu </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">海粟</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">. <br>This scroll was completed in 1327 in the fourth year of the reign of Emperor Taiding. He was 70 years old. Later in life he began to <br>
- follow Chan Buddhism and through that became acquainted with many followers and monks from Japan. His calligraphy had a <br>
- strong influence not only in China but also in Japan. The next two slides provide different views of the same scroll.<br>
