  30. Deng Yan was born in Huaining, Anhui Province. His designated name was Wanbo </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">顽伯</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> and his literary names were Shiru </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">石如</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> and<br>
  31. Wanbai Shanren </font><font size="-0" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">完白山人</font><font size="-1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> . He was considered a master in all four major calligraphic scripts and introduced new ideas to seal<br>
  32. carving and started the Deng school of seals. He specialized in zhuanshu and lishu with a strong influence from the Han dynasty.<br>
