  9. <p>One of the most common words when <a href="comparing" class=
  10. "uri" title="wikilink">comparing</a> things in Chinese is to use
  11. <a href="%E6%AF%94" title="wikilink">比 (bǐ)</a>. 比 (bǐ) has
  12. similarities to the English word "than," but it requires a word
  13. order that's not so intuitive, so you'll want to practice it quite
  14. a bit.</p>
  15. <h2 id="basic-usage">Basic Usage</h2>
  16. <p>You could think of 比 (bǐ) as meaning "than," except that it sits
  17. between the two things being compared. The <a href="word_order"
  18. title="wikilink">word order</a> will take a little getting used to,
  19. but aside from that, the pattern is quite easy.</p>
  20. <h3 id="structure">Structure</h3>
  21. <p>To say that one thing is more <em>adjective</em> than another,
  22. the structure is:</p>

  93. <p>This is a slight upgrade of the basic 比 (bǐ) comparison pattern,
  94. adding in <a href=
  95. "Expressing_&quot;even_more&quot;_with_&quot;geng&quot;" title=
  96. "wikilink">更 (gèng) before the adjective</a>. 更 (gèng) means "even
  97. more," so the idea is that while one thing is already quite
  98. [adjective], this other thing is <strong><em>even
  99. more</em></strong> [adjective]. Pretty simple!</p>
