  19. The expression,请问, may I ask,
  20. is used to open a conversation asking for information.
  21. The phrase may I ask sounds rather formal in English.
  22. We'd be more likely to use the phrase, excuse me.
  23. But remember that 请问 is used to bring up a question.
  24. It's not the word to use for saying excuse me after stepping on someone's foot.

  100. This marker is usually not used, however,
  101. if the phrase is short and the relationship in question
  102. is felt to be very close.
  103. In the affirmative, we translate it
  104. yeah as also or to.
  105. In the negative, we translate it as either.
  106. The word yeah itself has only one meaning,also.
  107. But in English, it often sounds better
  108. to use to for the affirmative
  109. and either for the negative.
