Calligraphy in Cursive Script
1 of 2
Wang Duo
王铎 (1592-1652)
This scroll in cursive or grass style shows not only the meld of the lines but the continuity of characters.
Notice how different techniques are used for different characters, varying from dry brush to a heavy bold
use of ink. One of the most important aspects of cursive in the Qing Dynasty is the momentum of the
composition, giving spontaneity and emotion to the work.
