It is sort of like our peanut brittle, but different. It is made with malt, rice, and starches. It is a special food for the New Year, especially in the northeast. It is crisp and sticky at the same time. It is a lighter sweet than is sugar.</font></div>
								<p><font size="-1" color="white" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Below, on the left, are blocks of brown sugar </font><font size="+1" color="white" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">红糖</font><font size="-1" color="white" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"> (hóngtáng) - literally red sugar.  Brown sugar is considered healthy for digestion and as having good effects on the kidneys.  The brown sugar in China has a much stronger flavor than ours, halfway to molasses.</font></p>
